Minimalist Fashion Style

What is a minimalist fashion style? As the name tells, it revolves around simplicity with basic, essential, and key pieces of outfits. The colors of the clothes aren’t too extravagant, leaning towards neutral tones like brown, black, white, beige, taupe, light blue and so on. The style exudes discretion and timelessness. Coats, jackets, shoes, and accessories can elevate the look and make it trendy.

I consider my fashion style to be minimalist. I incorporate basic clothing pieces that I accentuate with shoes, jackets, or coats. When I opt for a slightly bolder or trendy top, I balance the outfit by pairing it with simpler bottoms, and vice versa.

This style is reflective of my personality. I’m a discreet and introverted person; I prefer staying in the corner during a party rather than being the one on the dance floor for example. Nonetheless, I’m comfortable with this style—it suits me. At times, I do wish I were a bit more daring. I admire people who boldly wear eccentric clothes, and who knows, in the near future, I might share some ‘extravagant’ pieces that I dare to wear on my blog! It’s one of my goals—to be more daring, both in my day-to-day life and in the way I dress.

Sometimes, I mix the minimalist style with different elements, such as adding baggy jeans for a street style vibe, or a blazer and high heels for a business casual or chic look. I enjoy experimenting with my style and adding my personal touch.

My wardrobe, while very simple, contains key and basic pieces that I’ve been reusing for three/four years now. Down below, I’ll share what my wardrobe consists of and highlight the essential clothing pieces for this autumn/winter season. (Please note that the pictures included are not from my actual wardrobe, but I’ve selected images that closely match my real wardrobe to give you a better idea.)

White and Light Blue shirts

Shirts! A must-have in your wardrobe! Versatile for both a casual or business look, the shirt adapts well to either style. I opt for a slightly oversized fit, as shown in the picture, for a modern appearance! My shirts are typically made of 100% cotton—a material known for its durability, ensuring longevity over the years. Cotton is a thermoregulatory material, meaning it keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer! Its lightweight nature allows the skin to breathe and better absorbs sweat, making it perfect for all seasons.

Both my white and light blue shirts are from H&M, purchased three years ago. They are still in perfect condition and remain a staple in my wardrobe throughout the year!”

Over-shirts

In my wardrobe I have Jeans over-shirts in dark grey and color blue jeans. I bought the same over-shirts in both colors.

I love overshirts! In autumn, I use them as jackets, during winter I layer them under my coat to add dimension to my outfit, and they can also be worn as a simple shirt!

Both of my denim overshirts are from H&M. I purchased them on sale three years ago, and they’re still in perfect condition.

Black and White Tops

In my wardrobe, I have both black and white tops! They come in handy when you’re unsure of what to wear. They can be paired with jeans, trousers, or skirts. These tops are a must-have and versatile, suitable for wearing throughout the year!

Chimney Neck Sweater

Turtleneck sweaters are a basic wardrobe item, but unfortunately, I can’t stand them! I feel like I’m suffocating when I wear those sweaters. The neck is just too tight for me! So, I’ve found an alternative – the chimney neck sweater. The cut of the sweater’s collar is lower than that of a turtleneck, which alleviates that ‘suffocating’ feeling. I truly appreciate this style of collar! I have this sweater in both black and olive green colors. Again, I’ve bought them few years ago and still they are in a perfect to wear!

Coats and Jackets

I have those three items in my wardrobe! Goes with everything and enhance directly a basic outfit! I really enhance my minimalist outfit with coat, jackets and accessories! To level up the style and make it trendy! The 90s jacket is one of my recent items bought and I really love the style it gives me! It gives you this effortless trendy look that I really like and for me is THE leather jacket to have this season!

501 Levi’s Jeans

I have a pair of jeans in my collection that I can wear all year round! I particularly like it when the jeans hit right at my ankle. Standing at 162cm tall, I usually wear a size W27 L26. These jeans are so versatile – they go well with everything from shirts and sweatshirts to T-shirts, blazers, and more! They fit perfectly, not too loose and not too tight. I bought them in Medium Indigo Stonewash Blue; Luxor Last Blue and Black.

TMI: I purchased these jeans four years ago, before losing 5kg, so they’re a bit big around the waist. To make them fit me better, I bought a jeans button replacement on Amazon. It was very easy to put on, easily removable, and adjustable according to your preferences.

Hight and Low Converses

For me, Converse shoes are a basic! They can complement any style and never go out of fashion. Personally, I prefer the high-top Converse in black and the low-top Converse in white – that’s my go-to choice. I purchased them at a regular sneaker store. Recently, I just bought a new pair of Converse as my last ones were really old (I kept them for over five years). Surprisingly, I even wear them during autumn and winter, and they don’t get wet inside when it’s raining (though not during heavy downpours)! However, I avoid wearing them in extremely cold or snowy conditions – my feet wouldn’t be too happy about it!

With these pieces, you’ll have a strong base and can diversify your outfits. They go well with everything and can be worn all year round!

I’ve had these basic pieces for three to four years and always find joy in having them in my wardrobe!
