Summer feels like pure magic, those long, sun-soaked days where everything seems possible. The scent of blooming flowers and fresh-cut grass fills the air, mixed with the salty breeze from the ocean.
Vacation time is all about escaping the daily grind. Picture yourself with sand between your toes, the sound of waves crashing, and the taste of an ice-cold drink in your hand. It’s the season for laughter, exploring new places, and soaking up stunning sunsets.
Whether you’re hitting a tropical beach, a mountain cabin, or just chilling in your backyard, summer is about freedom and fun. And amidst all this joy, don’t forget your trusty sunscreen to keep your skin safe while you enjoy every sunlit moment.
During summer, new sunscreens with new formulas hit the market. Even though you need to apply sunscreen all year long; and as a skincare addict, not trying them would be wrong of me!
Today, I want to write about a product that went viral online, at least here in Europe! I was very tempted to try the SVR Blur Sun Secure sunscreen SPF 50+ and give you my review!
Now, I’ve tried a lot of sunscreens from different brands such as Avene, La Roche-Posay, Bioderma, Eucerin, and my all-time favorite, the one and only that has my heart for the moment: “The Oil Control” from Eucerin!
I’m very “picky” about sunscreen: I don’t like glowy sunscreen; I prefer it to be matte. I want it to be very light and not feel it on my face (even when I run my hand over my face hours later). It shouldn’t peel, should be transparent with no white cast, shouldn’t sting my eyes, and must be fragrance-free. And of course, as a person with acne prone skin, non-comedogenic! The Oil Control by Eucerin really checks all the boxes, but I still like to try different products and form my own opinion, especially if a product promises the earth to us!
The SVR Blur Sun Secure SPF 50+ went viral mostly because it blurs the skin, making pores less apparent and leaving the skin smooth. This sunscreen is supposed to not leave a white cast and be very light on the skin.
Dealing with imperfections like acne scars, redness, blackheads, and dilated pores on the forehead, I was very intrigued and wanted to try it!
So, does it keep its promises?
The Importance of Sunscreen and Protecting Your Skin

Before diving into the review, it’s crucial to highlight the importance of sunscreen and skin protection. Our skin is constantly exposed to harmful UV rays, making sunscreen an essential part of our daily routine, not just in the summer but all year long. Wearing sunscreen, helps prevent sunburn, premature aging, and reduces the risk of skin cancer. As we embrace the sunny days of summer, it’s even more important to protect both our face and body. While I won’t delve into the specifics of different SPF levels in this article, you can read more about UV rays, SPF, and sun protection in detail here.
For now, let’s focus on the product review!
Product Description – Sunscreen SVR Blur Sun Secure SPF 50+

First, let’s talk about the sunscreen itself and what is mentioned on the packaging:
The product is made in France, and the packaging states that it provides very high protection (SPF 50+), is non-photosensitizing (1), non-comedogenic (2), and octocrylene-free (3). It is very resistant to water (4) and respects the ocean (5)!
Little side note: Generally, you can see “UVA (6) and UVB (7)” mentioned on both the sunscreen packaging and the tube itself, but on this one, I only see it on the packaging and not on the tube!
You can also see on the packaging that it protects from visible (8) and infrared (9) lights. But again, it does not mention it on the tube!
It’s a pity that this information isn’t on the tube itself, as I usually discard the packaging after opening it. This means I might forget important details that were only on the packaging. Just a personal preference!
It’s also important to note that this is a chemical sunscreen, unlike the mineral sunscreens you often find in stores. If you’re wondering what this means for your skin and why this distinction matters, I encourage you to check out my article on the difference between chemical and mineral sunscreen here!
SVR Sun Secure Blur SPF50+: What Do the Ingredients Mean for Your Skin?
(1) Non-photosensitizing: This means that the sunscreen does not contain ingredients that will make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Some ingredients can cause photosensitivity, leading to an increased risk of sunburn or skin reactions when exposed to the sun.
(2) Non-comedogenic: Products labeled as non-comedogenic are formulated in a way that they do not clog pores. This is especially important for individuals with acne-prone or sensitive skin, as clogged pores can lead to breakouts and skin irritation.
(3) Octocrylene-free: Octocrylene is a chemical compound used in some sunscreens as a UV filter. While it is effective, it can cause skin allergies in some people and has been a subject of environmental concerns. Being octocrylene-free means that the sunscreen does not contain this particular ingredient, which might be preferable for those with sensitive skin or environmental concerns.
(4) Very Resistant to Water: This indicates that the sunscreen maintains its effectiveness after being exposed to water, such as swimming or sweating, for a longer period compared to regular sunscreens. It usually means that the product can stay effective for about 80 minutes in water. This is especially important for activities involving water or heavy perspiration, ensuring continuous protection.
(5) Ocean Respect: The sunscreen is formulated to be environmentally friendly, particularly with regard to marine ecosystems. It means that the product likely avoids ingredients known to harm marine life, such as certain chemical UV filters (e.g., oxybenzone and octinoxate) that can damage coral reefs and other aquatic organisms. This makes the sunscreen a more eco-conscious choice for those concerned about the environmental impact of their skincare products.
(6) UVA: Aging Rays
(7) UVB: Burning Rays
(8) Visible light: This is the light spectrum that is visible to the human eye, ranging from violet to red. It is not as intense as UV light but can still affect the skin, particularly in terms of pigmentation and photoaging. Sunscreens that offer protection against visible light help reduce pigmentation issues like melasma and dark spots. This is important for individuals with sensitive or hyperpigmented skin.
(9) Infrared light: Infrared rays are longer wavelength rays that are not visible to the naked eye but can penetrate deeper into the skin than UV rays. They can contribute to skin aging and damage. Sunscreens that protect against infrared radiation help reduce damage caused by heat and long-wave radiation, which can exacerbate skin aging and contribute to inflammation.
The SVR Blur Sun Secure SPF 50+ is a chemical sunscreen, meaning that it absorbs UV rays instead of reflecting them, like physical sunscreens do.
It’s worth noting that the cream provides quite good protection and adds value by being ocean-friendly. Additionally, its promises, such as being non-comedogenic, non-photosensitizing, and free of octocrylene, are also very appealing for the skin!
Second, let’s talk about what the cream looks like as soon as you squeeze it out from the tube.
As soon as I open the tube, I can smell a fragrance. Now, I bought the version with the fragrance and as this one has a strong monoi smell the new version, the fragrance-free version, apparently does not have any! I’ve never tried the new version (and I don’t think I ever will), so I can’t compare, but in this version, I smell this monoi fragrance, and it’s quite strong as soon as you open the tube.
The cream has an apricot color, and the texture is foamy, I must say the texture is quite pleasant. It reminds me of the Dream Matte Mousse foundation from Maybelline. The cream is not heavy but very light and very spreadable, which is nice when you apply it to the face.
Product Review: Sunscreen SVR Blur Sun Secure SPF 50+
Before giving you my review, let me remind you about my skin type, its appearance, and the criteria that are important to me in a sunscreen.
Reminder: My Skin

PS: I have the same fair complexion as her, except I’m not a redhead but have dark brown hair!
I am very fair, have sensitive skin especially on the cheeks, and acne-prone skin. Despite having undergone Accutane treatment, I still have acne; not as severe as before, but I still get some here and there and need non-comedogenic products. I also have acne scars (red marks) and some redness.
Before my acne treatment, I had combination skin, very oily on the T-zone, and very sensitive on the cheeks. Now, my T-zone is less oily, but my cheeks remain very sensitive. I have large pores on my forehead due to previous acne and oily skin. I still have some blackheads, not as many as before the treatment, but a few remain on my nose.
My Criteria for a Good Sunscreen

On a daily basis, I don’t wear foundation. When I go out, I wear sunscreen, concealer, bronzer, and highlighter (when I feel like it). I don’t use moisturizer before sunscreen either, as I find most sunscreens hydrating enough.
My criteria for a good sunscreen are:
- Matte finish
- No fragrance
- Non-comedogenic
- Invisible on the skin
- No peeling
- Doesn’t sting the eyes
- Hydrating
- Easily spreadable
This sunscreen promises to blur the skin, so as someone who doesn’t wear foundation, I’d still like to have a foundation-like effect without actually wearing foundation. Naturally, when a sunscreen with a blur effect hits the market, I want to try it!
My Review of the Sunscreen SVR Blur Sun Secure SPF 50+

What is the texture of SVR Blur Sun Secure SPF 50+?
As I mentioned above, the cream has a foamy texture, has an apricot color, smells like monoi and spreads very well on the skin.
Does the SVR Blur Sun Secure SPF 50+ sunscreen have a pleasant scent?
The smell is something I get used to over the day, but if there is a wind drift, I can smell the fragrance again. Even though I don’t like the monoi scent, this one is not as disturbing as it sounds. I couldn’t find the fragrance-free version but there is the same sunscreen without this fragrance if you are interested to test this sunscreen and you are sensitive to smell!

Is the finish truly transparent and invisible on the skin?
Initially, I thought the apricot color wouldn’t leave an orangey cast on my face, especially because the Oil Control by Eucerin is light yellow and doesn’t leave a yellowish cast on my face (at least not on me, and I am very pale). Unfortunately, it does leave an orangey cast. It feels like using fake tan drops in your moisturizer and waking up with a bit of color on your face. I can’t reapply this sunscreen because the orange color builds up, making me appear more orange. Because of this, I feel that my redness and other imperfections become more visible.
How It Applies, Hydrates, and Reacts with My Skin
Besides the color, as I mentioned above, the cream spreads very well on the face without peeling. However, I don’t see the blur effect it promises. I’ve had CC and BB creams that were blurrier than this sunscreen.
The cream feels very smooth when you run your hand over your face, giving a mousse foundation-like effect. You can still feel it even hours later. It doesn’t bother me except that it leaves a bit of product on my hand, which is not pleasant.
This cream is indeed hydrating, which is great, and it doesn’t have the glowy effect that I dislike about sunscreen, which is even better!
That being said, my sensitive and acne-prone skin tolerated the sunscreen really well: no breakouts, no blemishes, nothing at all! It reacted perfectly, which is a big plus for me. However, the sunscreen does sting my eyes. I can’t rub my eyes without them starting to water!
So, does the sunscreen meet my criteria for acne-prone and sensitive skin?
- Matte
- No fragrance

- Non-comedogenic

- Invisible

- No peeling

- No stinging the eyes

- Hydrating

- Easily spreadable

Not really. I can overlook some criteria like the fragrance for example, but because of the orangey cast it leaves on my face, the eye stinging, and the nonexistent blur effect, which the product promises, I won’t buy this product again. Sorry, SVR!
In conclusion, while the SVR Blur Sun Secure SPF 50+ has some positive aspects like its hydrating properties, easy spreadability and the texture, it ultimately falls short due to its orangey cast (a big no for me!), eye stinging, and lack of a true blur effect. For now, Oil Control by Eucerin is still my number one choice! But once I finish this SVR sunscreen, I have other sunscreens on my list to test. Want a review?
By the way, if you’re curious to discover other sunscreens I’ve tested recently that didn’t convince me at all, I’ve done a full review of two sunscreens I bought during my trip to Düsseldorf: one mineral and the other chemical. You can read it here. And if you’re interested in a look at my skincare haul from Germany, I also invite you to check it out here.
