I’ve always had a soft spot for sheet masks. Beyond their almost immediate visible effect on the skin (thanks to their high serum concentration) I find they also have a real relaxing power. It’s become a little self-care ritual that I enjoy treating myself to when I need to take care of both my body and mind.

During a recent city trip to Düsseldorf, I took the opportunity to buy several, as the prices there are much more affordable than in Belgium. (Link to my haul in Düsseldorf here, as well as my article about the sunscreens I bought in Düsseldorf and tried, which I didn’t like, here!).

Today, I was in the mood for a little break, and my skin needed a real boost. With the sun coming back, I’ve been craving that radiant glow. So, I decided to try Garnier’s Vitamin C Glow Booster Sheet Mask, which promises visible results in just 15 minutes. Here’s what I thought.

Sheet Masks: The Quick-Fix Skincare Trend

In recent years, sheet masks have become a must-have in skincare routines. First popularized by K-beauty (Korean skincare), they’ve now gained global popularity due to their practicality, targeted effectiveness, and especially their visible results from the first use.

Soaked in a concentrated serum, sheet masks act as an “occlusive layer,” allowing the active ingredients to penetrate the skin more effectively in a short amount of time, usually between 10 and 20 minutes. Depending on the formula, they can hydrate, plump, soothe, or even brighten the skin. Which is exactly what I was hoping for today!

A Closer Look at Garnier’s Vitamin C Glow Booster

Garnier’s Glow Booster Sheet Mask is designed to provide an instant radiance effect. Its promise? A fresher, more luminous, and visibly awakened complexion in just 15 minutes with a single mask.

The Glow Booster is a serum-infused mask that contains the equivalent of a standard bottle of serum (around 28 ml). It features a 5% glycerin complex, Vitamin Cg (a stable derivative of Vitamin C), and niacinamide – three key ingredients known for their brightening and skin-boosting properties:

  • Vitamin Cg: A powerful antioxidant that helps wake up the complexion and reduce signs of fatigue.
  • Glycerin: A hydrating agent that helps maintain the skin’s moisture levels.
  • Niacinamide: A multi-functional ingredient that improves skin tone and strengthens the skin’s barrier.

*Vitamin Cg (or Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate) is a stable derivative of Vitamin C, chosen for its brightening benefits while being gentler and more suitable for sensitive skin. Unlike pure Vitamin C, which can be unstable and degrade easily, Vitamin Cg ensures long-lasting effectiveness and better product preservation, offering similar brightening results and reducing signs of fatigue.

It’s dermatologically tested and suitable for sensitive skin (which is perfect for me). According to the brand, the effects are visible after the first use:

  • After 15 minutes: The skin is intensely hydrated, appears more radiant, and feels smoother.
  • After a week of use: The complexion is more even, fatigue signs are reduced, and the skin looks revitalized.

Bonus: The mask is compostable at home (a good point for the environment), and no animal-derived ingredients are used.

It’s a single-use mask, very easy to add to a morning routine, before an event, or simply for a quick self-care moment. It’s perfect for those looking for a quick glow with no hassle.

How to Use It

  1. Unfold the mask and apply it carefully to your clean, dry face.
  2. Leave it on for 15 minutes, then gently remove it.
  3. Massage any leftover serum into your face and neck (or remove it with a cotton pad if you prefer). → Personally, I prefer to massage it all in: face, neck, and even hands, nothing goes to waste!
  4. Garnier recommends using it up to three times a week as part of your regular skincare routine. →But for the purpose of this article, I’m mainly testing if the immediate glow promised on the packaging actually works. If I’m happy with the results, I might incorporate it more often into my routine.

Extra Tips for Optimal Results

Although I don’t personally follow all of these tips, I’ve read that they can improve the effectiveness of sheet masks, and I thought they might interest you:

  • Place the mask in the fridge before application: This intensifies the cooling and soothing effect on the skin, perfect for a more pleasant and relaxing experience.
  • Massage the excess serum: After removing the mask, gently massage for a few minutes to help your skin absorb the remaining serum. This maximizes the benefits of the product.
  • Use a moisturizer afterward: While I don’t add anything after the mask, some people prefer to apply a light moisturizer to lock in hydration and keep the glow going. If you have drier skin, this might be worth trying!
  • Use a steam bath beforehand: If you have time, taking a steam bath before applying the mask can open your pores and help absorb the serum ingredients better.

I wanted to mention these tips in case you’d like to try them to boost the mask’s effectiveness. For me, I prefer to keep things simple, but these extra steps could work for you!

Application & First Impressions

The mask comes in the usual serum-soaked fabric form, like most of Garnier’s sheet masks. Upon opening, the scent reminds me of their iconic products, particularly the yellow micellar water, with that fruity, pleasant fragrance. The scent is light but definitely noticeable, a signature touch of the brand.

For those who’ve never used a sheet mask, I took a photo of the product in its packaging so you can see what it looks like (and how generously the sheet mask is packed with serum).

The mask fits fairly well on the face, but it takes a bit of adjusting, especially around the eyes and nose. I’ve seen online that some people cut these areas slightly to fit better, which can be an option. Once in place, the mask stays put and doesn’t slip, which is always a plus.

The fabric feels nice to the touch, making the treatment even more relaxing. It’s pretty refreshing on the skin, allowing me to enjoy my 15 minutes of relaxation. After removing the mask, I squeezed the remaining product into my hands and spread it on my face, neck, décolletage, and even my hands to avoid wasting any.

The serum dries fairly quickly, but it leaves a slight tacky finish right after the mask. However, after an hour, my skin still feels soft, with the tackiness having disappeared, leaving a light and pleasant smooth sensation. The scent is still there too, subtle yet pleasant.

Results After 15 Minutes

After removing the mask and massaging in the remaining serum, my skin was still lightly covered with product, not fully absorbed yet. Right after taking off the mask, I could already see the immediate glow, as promised on the packaging.

As I mentioned earlier, I didn’t leave any product behind. I really squeezed the mask to get all the remaining serum and spread it on my face, neck, décolletage, and even my hands, so I didn’t waste anything (my Balkan side)!

However, to get a more accurate idea of the effect, I decided to wait a few more minutes for the product to fully absorb. And then, the illuminating effect became even more visible!

I took some before-and-after photos, although I’m not sure if they capture it well, but for me, the difference was clear: a brighter complexion and a plumper skin feel. I was honestly quite pleasantly surprised.

Before and after using the Garnier SkinActive Vitamin C Glow Sheet Mask
PS: As you can see on the right, this photo was taken right after using the sheet mask, as my hair is still a bit damp (pictures with no filters and not retouched).

The fruity scent is still there, but much lighter after absorption. Touching my skin, I noticed it was smoother, hydrated, and, most importantly, glowy, with that radiant effect still visible, even after a few minutes.

In short, I really enjoyed this mask! If you’re looking for an instant effect, whether for an event, a night out, or just to brighten up your complexion, I highly recommend it.

My Routine After the Mask

Personally, after removing the Glow Booster sheet mask, I simply let the remaining serum absorb into my skin without adding anything else. I like to keep things simple and let my skin enjoy the product. However, I know some people prefer to add a light moisturizer after a mask, especially if their skin is drier, to seal in the hydration and extend the effect. It really depends on your preferences and your skin’s needs.

In any case, the result after the mask is great. The Garnier Vitamin C Glow Booster Sheet Mask is perfect for giving an instant glow and a fresh complexion in no time. After applying it, my skin is hydrated, plump, and luminous, and I loved the feeling. If you’re in a hurry but still want to take care of your skin, this mask is a quick, effective, and pleasant option to add to your routine.

It’s true that, in my regular skincare routine, I don’t apply Vitamin C serum daily. As I mentioned in a previous article (link here), I’ve had some disappointments with Vitamin C serums: I often encountered issues with rapid oxidation and yellow stains on my clothes, especially around the collar area. For this reason, I prefer to use Vitamin C in the form of a sheet mask, as it avoids these drawbacks. It’s the perfect way for me to enjoy the benefits of Vitamin C without worrying about oxidation or stains.

For me, it’s a definite yes! See you soon on the blog for more discoveries and beauty tips!
